Customer Review: Great strap, strange availability

Having used a Domke F-2 bag extensively over the past few months, when I was looking for a replacement for my years-old Tamrac camera strap that was severely fraying where it attached to my camera I was happy to find that Domke makes them. The material and construction quality of Domke products is top-notch.
I really liked the Tamrac strap because it had quick-release buckles. I don't always like having the strap attached to my camera. So again, I was glad to see that Domke offers this as well. However, it also has straps without that function, which seem to be more widely available (at least in other color choices.)
One complaint with this strap is that I couldn't get a black one. The only way you can buy the black one is in a box of six! What good does that do me? I don't have six cameras, and these are so durable I don't expect to need backups lying around. I did find these in a local store (Samy's Cameras in Santa Ana, CA) but they too only had the navy color (and were overpriced.)
I mean, I do like the blue color. It is nice. I am glad I chose it. It would have been nice to have the other two color options, though, and I may have chosen a different one if they were easily available.
Yes, there is a 1.5 inch version easily available in black, but I wanted the 1-inch.
This is a great strap partially because it's small. Some of the straps out there are ridiculously big and bulky. Despite being small and thin, this is very comfortable, and the rubber strips sewn in really do hold it on your shoulder well. If you have a Domke bag already and like the strap, you will feel very comfortable with this, it is exactly the same (though thinner than the typical wide straps on the bags.)
A nit-pick - the attachment strap is really too long. I have it adjusted so it is really short, which leaves a big part of it hanging out. Also, this causes the quick-release attachment to be very far out from the camera, something like 6-8 inches. Besides being slightly unwieldy, I am concerned that the tough metal attachment could swing around and hit something expensive I'd rather it didn't.
Anyway - this is a great strap, highly recommended. I looked through dozens of options in local stores and this is the only one I would consider actually using (the Tamrac one I had is discontinued and they don't make a similar current model.) Of course, with matters such as these it is a highly personal choice, and everyone will have their own preferences.
The purpose, then, of a review like this is to inform you if you are already considering this strap. If you like Domke bags and are considering this strap, no need to hesitate any more, it is great. If you are just looking for something simple and durable that looks cool too, then don't even bother looking at other straps that are available, this is the one you want.
